Since its inception eleven years ago, the race has managed to pay out more than R835 000 to beneficiaries, and in doing so give back to the local community.

We missed you last year! This family-friendly Trail and MTB event showcases the unique beauty of the wine lands and is recognised for its great vibe as well as top routes & trails which come highly recommended by riders & runners.

This year we are doing things a bit differently, we are going back to basics. Stripping away all the fuss to focus on mountain bike cycling at its best – raw, sweat and nature.

Starting and ending at Van Loveren, the three trails vary in technicality and offer riders of all fitness levels a great workout.

MTB CHALLENGE

Start venue: Van Loveren Family Vineyards, R317 Road, Robertson.

The MTB trails at Van Loveren Family Vineyards offer amazing views of the Breede River and the Robertson valley.

Starting and ending at Van Loveren, the four trails vary in technicality and offer riders of all fitness levels a good workout.

6KM MTB ROUTE

The 6km MTB route is an easy, non-technical fun ride suitable for small children (parents welcome to ride with).

20KM ROUTE

The 20km route is ideal for beginners. It consists mostly of jeep tracks with some single tracks, and is not very technical, with only 232m elevation.

45KM ROUTE

The 42km route is suitable for intermediate riders with an elevation of about 850m.

65KM ROUTE

The 65km is a gruelling route for the adrenalin seekers. It includes many sections of the 2018 ABSA Cape Epic route as well as virgin territory and custom-built single tracks. The 1300m elevation will excite even the most seasoned rider and is perfect training for the upcoming Wines2Whales and To Hell and Back MTB events.

Directions

Van Loveren Family Vineyards is located a convenient 120 minutes from Cape Town. Participants travelling from Cape Town can take the N1 towards Worcester and continue on the R60 towards Robertson, continuing straight through Robertson until reaching the traffic circle on the R317. At the traffic circle, turn right towards Bonnievale. Van Loveren will be approximately 15 km away on your right (GPS Coordinates: S33˚52’31.3” E 020˚ 0’ 9.1”).

Enjoy informal tastings at the Van Loveren tasting room after your race or treat yourself to a relaxed food and wine pairing with a platter on the Van Loveren deck overlooking the garden. Non-alcoholic options are available.
